A Case of Emphysematous Pyelonephritis

Abstract
Emphysematous pyelonephritis is an uncommon infection of the renal parenchyma. It is found most often in diabetic patients or in patients with urinary tract obstruction. A spontaneous gas collection is found in the upper urinary tract, renal parenchyma and perirenal tissues. We recently experienced a case of emphysematous pyelonephritis treated by nephrectomy in a 31-year-old diabetic woman without urinary tract obstruction. So we report the case with a brief review of the literatures.
